Rapid Antigen Testing

Rapid Antigen Testing can help you reduce the risk of incurring costly operational delays due to widespread COVID-19 infections in your workplace.

Don’t wait for a COVID-19 outbreak to act; get ahead of outbreaks and protect your workplace now by getting Rapid Antigen Tests for your employees.

What is Rapid Antigen Testing?

Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) is a faster way to detect SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in people before symptoms begin.

As New Zealand has shifted to the COVID-19 Protection Framework, the way we test for COVID-19 has needed to be adjusted.

This is where Rapid Antigen Testing comes in, RAT is another tool to help fight and control the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace by using it as a regular screening and surveillance tool.

Rapid Antigen Tests are generally taken using a front of nose swab, which is less comfortable.

Benefits of Rapid Antigen Testing

  •  Get a result in 10 to 15 minutes
  • Acts as a screening and surveillance tool to detect COVID-19 before workers become symptomatic
  • Helps to protect employees and the wider community
  • Can help reduce the risk of incurring costly operational disruptions

Not everyone with COVID-19 will experience symptoms as there can be asymptomatic carriers of the virus who can still spread it. Additionally, people can still spread the virus before they start showing symptoms. Performing fast and easy Rapid Antigen Testing as a regular surveillance tool among employees will reduce the risk of widespread infection in the workplace.

This will help to keep employees safe and aid in reducing major workplace disruptions as a result of widespread COVID-19 infection within a business.

What You Should Know About Rapid Antigen Testing

Rapid Antigen Tests are to be used for surveillance and screening purposes only. If an employee has COVID-19 like symptoms, the employee must self isolate and get a PCR test.

It is a surveillance tool, and is not currently used to diagnose COVID-19.

If the result is positive, self isolate and get a PCR confirmatory test as soon as possible.

Rapid Antigen Tests should be used in conjunction with other COVID-19 safety measures such as, but not limited to, vaccination, mask wearing, physical distancing, and handwashing.

False-positive and false-negative test results are possible.
